How To Spot Good Acoustic Songs

Over the years, acoustic music has climbed in popularity – whether it be from rock bands coming out with acoustic versions of their songs, pop artists trying to get in touch with their raw selves, or new acoustic artists coming on to the scene. There are many reasons why this trend may be happening, but why have acoustic songs become such a big deal?

We all know that acoustic music is very simple, and this provides one potential reasoning for the uprising. People love to hear something down to earth and simple when they are used to hearing synthesized sounds all the time. Acoustic music captures the simplicity and beauty of music at its most basic form.

But there is more to it than that. Good acoustic music follows a lyrical theme. Like many other songs, common themes seem to encompass what acoustic musicians write about, but many unplugged artists do it in a very interesting way.

Expressions of love is one of the most popular subject matters for music. Especially in the United States, we feel that a song is one of the ultimate ways we can express ourselves to someone we love, or someone we are infatuated with. We are not scared to stand up on stage with our guitars are sing at the top of our lungs about how we love someone. But acoustic songs take it to a whole new level. Consider the songs “Lucky” by Jason Mraz. He sings a duet with a woman about how they are so lucky to be in love and be best friends. The lyrics make it very obvious that this song comes from the heart.

Another example of a common acoustic theme is found in the song “Vegetable Car” by Joshua Radin. He simply tells of a funny story about a woman who drives by his house everyday in an environmental-friendly car. He talks about how he doesn’t even know her, but wishes they could meet because everything about her, he seems to love.

Of course breakups are also a great source for writing good acoustic songs. Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional knows how to harness the emotional distress of a breakup into a great song. Through thought provoking lyrics and riffs that are very catchy, he outlines all of the strange and painful feelings of a breakup.

Newly recognized life perspectives is also a great lyrical background of acoustic music. Every teenager who ever picked up a guitar has learned “Good Riddance” by Greenday. It’s the classic high school graduation song that really does help us look back at our experiences and motivates us to live life to its fullest. Many other very good acoustic songs do the same type of thing.

No matter what the lyrical background, acoustic songs hold a special place in music listeners hearts. Some love acoustic music for the riffs, others for the lyrics, and still others for the simplicity. Whatever the reason, acoustic music is surely one of the most valued types of music out there.

Music has a huge impact, and discovering good acoustic songs will give you new perspective. For further details about easy acoustic songs, visit our site.
