You see it written everywhere, don’t you: “Smoking causes cancer”. Isn’t this health warning visible on every cigarette pack these days? Yet there are millions of people who know it and still smoke. Smoking isn’t healthy. It causes cancer, severe cardiac illnesses, etc to anyone who smokes regularly.

Although a countless number of people are still addicted to smoking, there are millions who want to quit smoking. This can be very hard, especially because of the cravings they get and nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Quit smoking aids are helpful during these situations in order to reduce craving and addiction withdrawal.

However, one of the benefits of living in a hi-tech world is that a wide variety of items to help quit smoking can be found on the market easily. Some of the most commonly used aids to stop smoking are nicotine chewing gum, nicotine patches, lozenges, inhalers, anti-withdrawal medications, hypnosis and herbal remedies and nicotine nasal sprays.

Not everyone gets any benefit from nicotine patches or chewing gum, because it doesn’t have the same effect on everybody. The results vary from one person to another. Aids to help smokers stop are designed to help people give up their unhealthy habit of smoking and also to relieve the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Some of the best-known aids to quit smoking on the market are Zyban and Chantix. Zyban is not recommended for use by everybody although it is quite good at reducing the discomforts associated with nicotine withdrawal. Some people who have tried hard to quit smoking, have been unsuccessful. For individuals like that, Zyban has been the answer to stopping smoking for good. There have been a few side-effects linked to the drug that include having a dry mouth, dizziness, migraine headaches, insomnia and a change in appetite.

Chantix is another product to help you stop smoking that many use today. Using this has helped reduce the level of satisfaction that smokers derive from smoking and also minimize nicotine withdrawal symptoms. People who use Chantix find it an easy, painless process of supporting their goal of quitting smoking. The pleasure of smoking dissolves and as a result, they become less likely to take another cigarette.

While it’s true that the market has plenty aids to quitting smoking, one of the best aids is your own will power and determination. It is better than any drug that can be taken to quit smoking. If you have no motivation or desire to stop smoking, then the best aid to quit smoking in the world won’t help you. In this case, you would probably stop smoking for a short period of time and then resume your usual habit once again when your will power drops.

We usually have a picture in our minds when we think about the changes we want to make in our life. We might envision a bigger house, more holidays, a faster car and maybe a job with more status. We might see ourselves looking quite different to how we look now – more toned, slimmer, better dressed.

All of these changes are focusing on what we want to have in our lives, and they’re a great place to start when planning the goals we want to achieve. If we don’t have an idea of how things will be when we’ve made it, the chances are we’ll never get there.

But before we can have all these great things, we have to be prepared to make some changes. As Albert Einstein said, “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.” And so, continue doing what you’re doing right now, and you’ll continue having what you’ve always had.

We need to not only massively change the way we do things, but also massively change the way we think. Only then will we make big steps forward in what we have. Not a big revelation then to realise that a smidgen of exertion will be needed to get the things we want to have. The relationship between giving and getting is well understood! Yet simply doing the work won’t automatically give us the lifestyle we’re after.

We accomplish success by embracing the thoughts and behaviour of a successful person – assuming the characteristics and values of a winner before we’ve actually become one. If the objective is to drop four dress sizes in twelve months, then for a time we have to prioritise an exercise routine and pay attention to what we eat.

Until the exercise time’s been reached, leisure activities are off-bounds. Success dictates that reward will follow effort. Adopting a good mental attitude to the things that have to be done will result in much faster weight loss.

We don’t succeed because we’re lucky! A robust attitude to our efforts will support us when we experience the knocks.

Reading accounts of how achievers survived their journeys to success can help. We come across the same story time after time; their attitude and self-image is what created the results. And so to sum up – If we do our tasks with relish, and be a winner in our minds, we can be assured to have the things we’re working for.

Both my wife Katie and I were desperate to reduce our weight, so we had a little heart to heart about why we wanted to be thinner, and what that would mean to us. It was amazing, but we really didn’t aspire to anything that remarkable. Having more oomph to play with the kids was Katie’s number one goal. She wanted to become more self-assured when undressing in our bedroom too.

Most of all I hoped to dress well again. I had become completely fed up with ‘fat boy’ clothes! And for health reasons I wanted to be able to run up the stairs at home and not feel sick!

We did our research, and found that as well as considering how we look, we also have to consider how we feel about ourselves. Those of us who are obese tend to have a very low self-image. It’s a popular assumption that reducing weight will make everything in life good again. Katie and I can really relate to this, and thought you might appreciate our take on things.

Over time scientists have discovered that our sub conscious mind stores information, but can’t decipher whether that information is actually ‘real’. It therefore ‘programs’ the conscious element of our brain with anything that occupies it. Process that thought repeatedly, it emerges as its prevailing concept and thus it’s actual truth.

Reflect on that for a little while – have you been sabotaging your hopes of a slimmer self by constantly telling yourself that you are fat? Our subconscious needs to be fed a diet of what we actually want to be real.

If we concentrate on the positive things we’ll enjoy when we’re slimmer, it’s easier to get through the tough times. We started off with all the things we’d like to do or have more of: Things like having fun with the kids, cycling, more confidence, poise, going for long walks, dancing and playing tennis.

Next we conjured up visions of ourselves on vacation, looking fantastic in our new summer gear. Everyone approved of our good looks. Everything was fantastic!

Accordingly, both of us are a lot lighter and fitter – though not as thin as rakes! By the same token, we’re feeling terrific and life really has become fun!

Your Best Diet Program? Find One That Works For You! Obsessing over food, and then getting poor results, is all too common when we’re on a diet. It’s essential then to go for a diet that can slot in comfortably with our regular routine. A ‘real world’ solution that can work for normal people!

In addition, we need to still enjoy the food that we eat. Cabbage soup diets and the like just don’t have what it takes.

So we’ve done our research and discovered plans that tick all the right boxes.

We narrowed it down to 3 informative dietary programs. They all produce good short-term results, and are very sustainable. They all attracted us because of their attention to logical facts founded in science. They help us to get to grips with where we’ve gone astray in the past. Sometimes they’ll have us eating more food than we currently eat, but in a different way.

Rather than dominating our lives, these plans enrich our lives. Your energy levels will surge as you watch the weight fall off.

Getting through the day carrying too much weight is tiring – when you’ve lost the weight you’ll feel great! You’ll never again have to sit out activities that are currently just too much for you to handle. And having more energy invariably leads to more happiness and fun! If you’re like me, you’ve reached your point of readiness.

Pick The Best Weight Management Tool For You – It’s best to let the authors of these regimes explain the science themselves. We are only the messengers – get the truth from the horse’s mouth! Don’t hold yourself back any longer – this site will clarify your options.

P.S. Personally I’ve achieved terrific results from blending a couple of these routines into my everyday life (47 pounds continues to manageably stay off). Things have changed so much for me – my new life is like a gift I want to share with everyone. At the very least look at one or two – I’m sure if I can do it, you can too. (With Best Wishes from Scott)

The Slimming Business Is A Daunting One... And huge business empires have grown out of this. Several billion dollars of diet products are purchased every year.

The Slimming Business Is A Daunting One… And huge business empires have grown out of this. Several billion dollars of diet products are purchased every year.

In All Honesty, Is It Really That Bad? Maybe you’re not classed as obese, but you’re probably somewhat overweight if you’re reading this. Around seven tenths of people in America can be classed as having weight problems. That’s over two hundred million! What’s more, it’s not a great deal less elsewhere. Yet we don’t wish to win this race…

It’s been revealed that in Britain today, one quarter of all adults are a minimum of 33lbs too heavy (and are therefore classed as obese.) But look at this – Some predictions forecast this figure will rise to 90 percent in forty years time.

It really does not have to happen though. We’ve got to stop the trend before it’s too late. Sensible dietary advice is the key – not expensive products that line the pockets of big business.

Very overweight individuals are more susceptible to contracting the following – Type two diabetes; mental health problems; high blood pressure; heart disease & heart failure; cancer; liver disease; osteoarthritis and high cholesterol. For these reasons it’s vital that we lose the weight.

It’s not like we have to be SKINNY – we just have to healthy. It’s about feeling comfortable and finding a weight you can maintain.

We should also teach our kids about good health. We should educate our youngsters from an early age, helping them to form good habits from the start. We’re not the only ones who’ll suffer if we continue doing what we’ve always done. We (and our kids) will get more of what we’ve already got. Which mom and pop wants that?

All of this means we can’t afford to carry on as we are. It’s our duty to learn more about which foods are nutritionally sound. We have no chance of teaching our offspring how to eat well for good health if we don’t know how to do it ourselves. But more than just the next generation – we could help to reverse the obesity trends we were discussing above if we start to get it right now.

Pick up any magazine or newspaper these days, and it seems we can’t escape being criticised about our size. Most of us know we should be doing something about our weight, but life seems to have a way of sabotaging our best intentions. Somehow the right message needs to get across, because you’re not being told the whole story.

Stop Feeling You’re At Fault For Being So Heavy! First things first though: We’re certainly not suggesting that you can’t take corrective action. Just that the truth about weight loss has been kept from you.

We’d like to break that depressing chain of misinformation. We would just like to help you discover a zest for life that you may have thought would never return.

There are a whole mass of explanations about why we’re so big – and the finger’s not always pointing to ourselves. The good thing is we can do something about it – we can re-educate ourselves and be guided by factually accurate systems that are both enjoyable and sustainable. Life doesn’t have to be such a struggle.

Let’s compare this to a motor repairer who’s been issued with Toyota tools to work on an Audi A4. Nothing’s the right size!

The mechanic can’t possibly fulfil his task with the wrong set of tools. Clearly it’s necessary to always have the specific tools that suit the task. Despite the fact that he’ll have a good idea of what he should be doing, with the wrong set of tools he’ll just be disappointed. This may seem a very simple analogy, but it’s directly related to our weight loss situation. So our aim here is to proffer a set of tools that will work as instruments of weight reduction.

To be honest, none of us are the same. That’s why life is so intriguing. So we need different solutions for different folks. For best results you must be allowed to choose the ‘tool’ that matches your needs.

Previous slimming attempts will have demonstrated that some times of day can be more challenging to diet than others. As a rule, a busy routine makes dieting much easier. The way we live has evolved over many years – and we can see how heavily it influences the ease or difficulty of diet regimes. We need systems with the right tools to simplify our problem. Only then can we develop daily habits that will help us to stick with a healthy eating program for life.

How are we supposed to know which advice to take about the best way to lose weight? In reality, most pills and slimming products do not work, and most companies are just out to take our money! Here’s what we discovered about weight loss programs when we sorted the wheat from the chaff…

We learnt that we should avoid having to buy on-going ‘diet food’, and instead find authors who’d written real eating programs. Experts that knew what was important to us and understood how to teach us. Good information is everything. We ruled out regimes that required expensive regular purchases. What we were looking for was education.

Each program we shortlisted offers real, well-tested advice. We left the ‘sensational must haves’ well alone. They’re just the latest gimmick!

The creators of the programs we’re recommending have really got to grips with how it feels to be too heavy. They teach no-nonsense practical solutions on resolving obesity issues for good. As you read through these programs, you’ll start to realise the benefits they’ll give you both now and down the road. Friends will find your weight loss and energy gain hard to believe!

So There Is Light At The End Of The Tunnel? Without doubt – though few have discovered it under the mass of rubbish! Nevertheless, we know for sure that we’ve discovered some real breakthroughs.

We’re very conscious that being overweight can take over our lives – especially when diet after diet comes to nothing. We get some weight off temporarily, but the pounds creep back on again. So many attempts at losing weight end up failing – usually because the diets are not workable for more than a couple of weeks.

A great deal of time and money goes into a professional athlete’s nutritional program. Clearly we are not saying you need an athlete’s diet, but we can learn the lessons about optimal nutrition from the sports industry. Very practical usable dietary systems can be produced from these results – then ordinary people can adopt them.

But we have to stop putting things off. It’s very rewarding to see visible changes occurring so quickly. But we’ll get no-where if we always put things off. Read the facts now, and have a go! Be pleased with yourself for starting.

The amount of regular exercise that we take will significantly affect how quickly we lose weight when we’re on a diet. Many would prefer not to exercise, but the rewards are worth it. Exercising not only uses up calories, it also develops muscle.

Muscle has a higher metabolic rate than fat. This means it will burn up more calories than fat, which is a good thing. The more muscle we have, the more calories we burn. Also when we build muscle we start to see better defined thighs and abs.

Developing new habits can seem a bit daunting. The easiest way to start is probably to slot little bits of exercise into your daily life. Walk up flights of stairs instead of standing on escalators. Do not be tempted to park your vehicle in the closest space to your destination – give yourself the opportunity to walk the last bit. When time permits, each time you take a bus get off two or three stops before your destination.

Every week you should be exercising on at least 5 days. Thirty minutes sessions are ideal, and not too time-consuming. You’ll find it much more enjoyable if you select a few different forms of exercise. You’ve more chance of longevity that way.

Getting fit and more toned doesn’t have to be painful. Team up with someone else and make your exercise routine fun. Several times a week, get outdoors and go for a walk. Brisk walking on a regular basis can do much more for us than weight loss alone.

People who are actively fit suffer much less from heart attacks and strokes. Inactive females have a greater risk of breast cancer than active ones. Adult cholesterol is considerably lower in energetic people. Interestingly, many who are depressed and anxious can alleviate their symptoms by taking robust walks. Therefore we can anticipate feeling much fitter as well as looking much slimmer.

When going for a walk, pick out some comfy clothes. Several tee-shirts and a fleece are better than one heavy item. You might like to invest in some specialist footwear. Whether you choose boots or shoes, buy a pair that support your feet well.

Go through the following checklist when you’re about to get going: Stand up straight, weight evenly distributed. Relax your shoulders and draw in your tummy. Do be sure to warm yourself up well. Rolling your shoulders and stretching helps, as do a few squats and knee lifts. And last but not least, march on the spot for a couple of minutes and then off you go!

It’s important to develop a good walking style, so keep your back straight and let any tension go. When you arrive back home at the end of your walk, repeat your warm up in reverse, decreasing the size of your movements. Start with a few fairly short walks, and build up as you go. Brisk walking is generally good for all of us, but if you’re in doubt, consult your doctor first.

We’ve probably all heard about the power of association. There’s a tangible link between the way we behave and the men and women we have friendships with. But we might have thought the similarities would reveal themselves in our attitudes and personal tastes – for instance we often support the same institutions and vote for the same parties as our friends.

Lately though, studies are claiming that we will have more tendency to be overweight if we hang around with others who are overweight. We will eat more when in the company of good friends who eat more. A small study undertaken in America found that overweight kids and teenagers ate more when they were eating with a friend who was also overweight, than when they ate with a normal weight child.

Indeed, all the young people studied (aged 9 to 15) ate more when they were with friends than strangers regardless of their size. But it was when the heavier friends teamed up that the most calories were consumed. Clinical nutritionists were interested in this research. The most revealing dynamic it discovered was the influence of friends.

It’s quite natural that many kids ate more when they were relaxed about who they were with. Both children and adults are less self-conscious when they’re with friends rather than strangers. It’s possible however that in addition, we assume friends will give their consent. Subconsciously we’re placing the permission ball in someone else’s court.

Young people of all sizes were studied for forty five minutes. They were split into groups of two friends, or groups of two strangers. Then they were presented with a selection of things to pass the time, and food to eat.

With each of the pairs, the ones who knew each other before the experiment got through more food than the ones who didn’t. But overweight friends ate the most of all. And the differences were quite significant.

The heavier friends together consumed an average of almost 750 cals each. Heavy kids with standard weight chums ate just under 450 cals, and standard weight kids ate approx 500 cals whatever weight their mate was. Similar ‘friendly’ peer pressure is also evident when kids decide whether to start smoking.

Back to the eating patterns – and the researchers concluded that the way children eat is very much tied into the habits of their friends. But this can be argued both ways – if a young person is taught sound nutrition and puts it into practice, they could be instrumental in influencing many others. What better reason for more nutritional training in schools?

by Scott Edwards

I’ve always had to fight to keep my weight at a reasonable level. I feared that as I reached middle age it would continue to get more difficult. And yet my story has turned our quite differently. Now, I never fear jumping on the scales, as I’m lighter than I was in my thirties.

My ‘secret’ is keeping my blood sugar levels stable. Around 4pm, I used to get a sap in energy and I’d get a longing for food. And so I’d munch on a chocolate bar for an instant pick-me-up. This then just added to the increasing store of fat around my middle!

What’s also quite daunting is how much fat was additionally mounting up in my arteries, heart and even my brain. But now my blood-sugar remains level, and I don’t get the lows in energy and hunger. And it’s not just the blood sugars that have levelled out – I don’t break out into a menopausal sweat nearly as often. But the best thing for me is enjoying a great night’s sleep.

This transformation has come through eating something small on a very regular basis. I used to miss meals during the day several times a week. Then I’d catch up in the evening, and gorge! This was the worst thing I could do.

Regular moderate consumption is what the body actually needs. By the middle of each day, the rate we metabolise food is at it’s highest. So early meals are vital, as later meals have a sluggish journey through our system.

So I ‘re-educated’ myself to eat breakfast every day. The quality and amount I eat is more relevant than number of calories it contains. The stomach is about the size of a large citrus fruit, so that’s how much we should eat at once.

I restrict the amount of grain I eat, and make lunch my most important meal. By late afternoon, a small snack is now all I need take me through to a small evening meal. Each meal has some protein, and some anti-oxidant rich vegetables.

The right types of fat should still be included in our diet – this is especially important for good health. I like seeds and nuts in moderation, and salads always get a good glug of olive oil.

The amount of alcohol I consumed had to be reduced – and this has definitely had a positive effect. I feel the alcohol was stimulating the hot turns I had, as they’re not so frequent any more. You might wonder if I’ve found it a struggle. Maybe a little at first, but the benefits soon outweighed the challenges, and now I love it. I wanted to share this ‘secret’ with everyone as it’s so easy to carry out, but would be so hard to do without now. My life is great, and there’s absolutely no reason why yours can’t be too.
